I’m a fan of PG Tips, which is a popular everyday tea in England. These days, though, I mostly drink green tea. Depending on where you buy it, green tea can be expensive!

I’ve found a sort of “PG Tips” version of green tea—something affordable but still good quality. It’s not like Gunpowder Tea, but a very specific type of green tea. You can get a pound (16 ounces) for about $13, and for a big pot, you only need a level teaspoon, because the leaves expand quite a bit.

The tea is called Tian Hu Shan – Yin Hao, straight from China. I drink it constantly because it’s so good. One unique thing about this tea is that you can steep it twice. The Chinese do this all the time, though Americans rarely do. After the first brew, you pour off the tea, then refill the pot with more water to steep the same leaves again. In China, many people believe the second brew is the better part of the tea session. Personally, I don’t notice much difference—it just feels like I get double the tea from the same leaves. At this rate, I’m not sure how long it will take to finish the 16 ounces!

The packaging is all in Chinese, so I have no idea if it’s a small batch or not.
